Yes, but it’s important to select the right settings, attachments, techniques and vacuum type, since many household vacuum cleaners are designed to clean wall-to-wall carpets and hardwood.
Based on our rigorous testing, here are some of the things that we’ve found to work best:
- Settings: Use low suction and low power, often labelled “hard floor” or “short-pile carpet,” with the beater bar/brush turned off.
- Attachments: Use handheld attachments without bristles, brushes or beater bars if possible.
- Technique: Just use a pull motion, rather than the traditional push and pull motion. Avoid vacuuming the edges and corners.

Additionally, we recommend periodically vacuuming or sweeping under your Rug Pad to prevent the build-up of dirt, dust, and moisture. After cleaning underneath the Rug Pad, make sure the floor is completely dry before laying your Rug Pad back down.
